Dear Mary and Tom,

I just had to write you a note on the eve of Jonah's eighth birthday. He was born to Morgan eight years ago on December 13, 2005. He was named Yellow Boy for the purposes of litter identification, but we changed that to Jonah when we received him in February of 2006. We knew he would spend some time riding in the "belly" of our canoe, so we named him after the biblical Jonah. And he loves riding in the canoe. He has traveled with us many places, including Colorado, New Mexico, Connecticut and Michigan. He is an outstanding traveler.

These past eight years he has brought us amazing companionship and love. He is a friend to all he meets, two-legged or four-legged, but he prefers the human contact. I like to say that when Jonah is not near the ones he loves, he loves the ones he's near. The staff at the Woodstock Animal Hospital who take care of his health needs, vaccinations, etc. all adore him and he loves them back in return. My wife and I have had several wonderful dogs throughout our forty-four years of marriage, but none of them have been a more loving companion than Jonah. Thank you for your wonderful breeding techniques that bring such outstanding golden retrievers into our lives. We pray that he will continue in good health for several more years.
